The i.d.e.a. Museum will offer grandparents free admission on Sept. 8 in celebration of Grandparents Day.

While at the museum, check out the last day of Roadside USA. The exhibition offers visitors an adventure through offbeat and popular family vacation destinations and roadside attractions. It features games, trivia and hands-on activities focused on the summer road trip.

Hands-on activities

Children of all ages will enjoy:

  • Driving a motor home (and changing its tire)
  • Weaving via loom activity
  • Crafting a travel journal and making maps
  • Creating magnetic license plates and vacation postcards
  • Placing yourself in a surfboard/vacation scene via green screen

Plus, enjoy a variety of activities that support early learning and nurture creative thinking in the HUB Gallery and ArtVille (our socks-only space aimed at ages 0-4).

In the HUB, build with Rigamajig, which challenges young minds to think like engineers; make a short movie via the Animation Station; and create with recycled materials. In ArtVille, play with imagination in the vet clinic, library, café and outdoor garden; plus, create with light pixels and gears in Wee Design.

Admission & events

Regular museum admission is $9 for ages 1 and up; free for members. Memberships start at $55.
