The i.d.e.a. Museum will be participating once again in the Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day on Saturday, Sept. 21. Participating museums offer free admission to guests who register for a ticket online. Tickets must be presented to the museum to receive complimentary entry.

“We hope this special day opens up the i.d.e.a. Museum to many in our community,” said i.d.e.a. Museum Executive Director Sunnee O’Rork. “The art and creative activities offer a wonderful way to exercise imagination and create fun memories together as a family.”

Registration allows a ticket holder to receive two free admissions to a participating museum.

Activities for all ages

Museum lovers coming to the i.d.e.a. Museum will enjoy a variety of art and hands-on activities that support early learning and nurture creative thinking in the HUB Gallery and ArtVille. Among them:

  • Designing on Rigamajig, which challenges young minds to think like engineers
  • Filming a short movie via the Animation Station
  • Learning about sustainability on the Recycle Fun game and creating artwork from recycled materials in the Recyclery
  • Playing with imagination in ArtVille’s vet clinic, library, café and outdoor garden
  • Creating with light pixels and gears in Wee Design, part of ArtVille
  • Exploring the jungle-themed black light room

The Whiteman Family Exhibition Gallery is currently changing out exhibitions. Weather or Not: Art with Atmosphere will open to the public on Sept. 27. ArtVille features activities    aimed at children ages 0-4; everyone visiting must wear socks.

Saturday hours & admission

The i.d.e.a. Museum’s hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Regular admission is $9 per guest age one and older. Learn more about museum activities online: www.ideaMuseum.org.

Please note: If the museum reaches capacity during Museum Day, staff may implement timed tickets.
