Tired of giving toys? Give a gift of experience to create fun family memories. The i.d.e.a. Museum offers your special art- or science-loving family members and friends several experience gift options – from admissions for a day to memberships that last all year. Plus, select memberships are on sale through Dec. 22.

The most popular membership option – the primary membership – includes free admission for four (4) members of your family for one year, plus benefits such as $25 off birthday party packages, 10 percent off regular prices in the museum shop and varying discounts on workshops/classes. It also includes special members-only events and exhibition previews. It’s now on sale for $75 (regularly $85).

“Gifts of experience are more than a typical holiday present. You create an opportunity to spend quality time together as a family. Here at the i.d.e.a. Museum, visitors discover an appreciation of art while nurturing creative thinking,” said Jessica Kuenne, who oversees Visitor Services for the museum. “Through a rotation of hands-on activities and imaginative play, children and their families have a chance to spark imagination and inspire critical thinking skills.”

Engaging experiences

The i.d.e.a. Museum – where children of all ages experience hands-on activities and art to engage their brains – features three rotating exhibitions annually (currently featuring Weather or Not: Art with Atmosphere) and ongoing activities in the HUB Gallery and ArtVille.

The HUB attracts all ages and is filled with activities that support creativity, promote problem solving and highlight design and engineering principles. ArtVille (aimed at  children 4 and younger) is a socks-only space that provides a variety of stimulating activities. These include playing with pixels and gears; using imagination in Art’s library, cafe and vet clinic; and building with soft blocks in the main space.
