This spring, creativity and science collide at the i.d.e.a. Museum’s Wonder Camp. Registration is now open for the hands-on STEAM program designed for curious children ages 6 to 12. Spaces are limited.

“Busy families seeking a fun, educational experience for their school-age children will delight in our spring Wonder Camp,” said i.d.e.a. Museum Education Curator Dena Milliron. “Wonder Camp was developed to encourage collaboration, promote a love for learning and inspire creative problem solving through art and science activities.”

What to expect

The museum’s spring camp – taking place March 9-13 – focuses on how stuff is made and has both a half-day and full-day option. Campers will enjoy projects featuring science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) aimed at inspiring curiosity and creativity. Activities will incorporate themes from museum’s Art of the Story exhibition, focused on the art of storytelling. Among the activities:

  • Create your own “Wonderland” island with plaster
  • Construct bridges to transport hexbugs between islands
  • Explore energy sources and build a solar oven
  • Make story cubes with a special guest artist
  • Sew a pillow-pet sidekick creature

Camp options

A half-day camp will run 8:30 a.m. to noon. Cost is $76 for i.d.e.a. Museum members; $85 for nonmembers. Register by March 4.

The full-day camp will take place 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children registered for the entire day must bring a packed lunch. Cost is $170 for members; $190 for nonmembers. Registration also closes March 4.
