Plink! Ploink! Plonk! – a theater experience for little ones – will be performing at the i.d.e.a. Museum at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 28 and 29. The two special performances aim to provide interactive, imaginative storytelling experiences for the museum’s youngest audiences.

Made for preschoolers

The performance explores the life and delights found living together on the forest floor. Young children and their caregivers are invited to participate in this 30-minute experience.

Theatre for the Very Young uses movement, music and storytelling to provide an interactive experience for preschoolers and younger and their families. This production is created by Taylor Jane Cooper, a student at Arizona State University.

“We’re proud to present these special performances because of the impact it will have on early learning for our youngest guests,” said Dena Milliron, curator of education for the i.d.e.a. Museum. “Immersive experiences such as these helps with language development, problem solving and cognitive development. Plus, they are fun for the whole family!”

Admission

Cost for this special performance is $2; museum admission is separate. Museum members and visitors are encouraged to register using this link: http://social.mesaaz.gov/cNc

Museum admission – providing access to activities in ArtVille (a socks-only space for little ones), HUB Gallery and Art of the Story exhibition in the Whiteman Family Exhibition Gallery – is $9 for ages 1 and up; i.d.e.a. Museum members receive free admission.

Special performances

The i.d.e.a. Museum occasionally offers theater and storytelling performances. This performance is especially catered to children ages 4 and younger.

A special performance also is planned for Mesa K-Ready participants on Feb. 28. Mesa K-Ready is a community collaborative aimed at providing families early-learning resources. Community partners, such as the i.d.e.a. Museum, provide additional educational enrichment opportunities for families enrolled in the program.
