A one-day special event aimed at helping new and expecting parents navigate the challenges of a family returns to the i.d.e.a. Museum Saturday, March 7. The 4th Trimester Arizona Conference – in its third year – features 12+ workshops that tackle postpartum, intimacy, family support, communication, education and self-care. The museum will be closed to regular admission during this ticketed event.

“Postpartum mood and anxiety disorders are at an all-time high. Much of this has to do with a lack of understanding and support that families receive postpartum,” said Jennie Bever, founder of 4th Trimester Arizona. “We aim to change that here in our community by bringing families together to share their experiences and recognize that they are not alone.”

Conference topics

4th Trimester Arizona connects a village of new families by providing resources, support and nurturing through regular community events. The third annual conference addresses:

  • The Myths of Motherhood
  • Your Relationship After Baby
  • Maternal and Paternal Parenting Styles
  • Ceremonies in the 4th Trimester
  • Stories our Bodies Tell
  • Post Birth Warning Signs

“Self-care and parenting resources make us better parents, so we are proud to support the 4th Trimester Arizona Community for a third year,” said Sunnee O’Rork, executive director of the i.d.e.a. Museum. “When we are at our best, we can focus on the things that help us better support our children and prepare them for the future. These include engaging in quality time, supporting early learning and nurturing creative thinking.”

What to expect

The conference – which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 7 at the museum, 150 W. Pepper Place in Mesa – features several expert speakers. The conference also includes spaces for attendees to connect and heal through energy work, postpartum yoga, sound healing and meditation.

Sponsors include the i.d.e.a. Museum, First Things First, Southwest Human Development, Arizona Department of Health, Robyn Wilhelm Physical Therapy, Image Legends and Arizona Breastfeeding Center.

Additionally, the conference is free to WIC and AHCCCS participants with registration.
