Early childhood education is central to our mission and goals at the i.d.e.a. Museum.

That’s because a wealth of development and growth occurs in children between birth and age 5. This time of life is full of joy, wonder, curiosity and discovery. And it’s when children develop emotional, social, cognitive and physical abilities.

The early years

Our museum strives to nurture early learning and support families by offering experiences for children to play, learn, imagine and explore. Caregivers are a child’s first teacher and are integral to their learning and development.

We acknowledge and value the caregiver/child relationship and make every effort to provide families with opportunities to be successful and healthy.

For the children…

Beginning Saturday, April 11, we kick off the Week of the Young Child. This is a special time to celebrate early learning and all of the people who support and make efforts in this field.

Typically, our museum would feature special activities at the museum this week. However, due to the current health crisis, we are not able to offer these activities in our physical environment. Instead, we are providing fun, engaging activities via social media and our website.

Activies planned

We encourage caregivers to try these out at home with their child(ren). We also invite you to check our social media platforms and our website Monday through Friday (April 13-17) for a new activity that you can do at home.

Themes include:

  • Music Monday
  • Tasty Tuesday
  • Work Together Wednesday
  • Artsy Thursday
  • Family Friday

We wish your family well during this unprecedented time. And we look forward to welcoming you back in the museum for activities as described above sometime soon.
