The i.d.e.a. Museum offers three ways for Arizona families to save on admission in September. Two free admission events are planned, plus the museum offers discounted admission for low-income families via the Museums for All program.

Sept. 6: Museum Discovery Evening

The first free admission event takes place from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, during our Museum Discovery Evening. Complimentary admission is made possible through financial support by the City of Mesa, individual donors and grants that fund the museum’s Access for All programs. No registration is required, but the museum may implement timed tickets if capacity is reached.

Sept. 21: Smithsonian Museum Day

The next free admission ticketed event – which requires registration – is from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, during Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day. To receive two free admissions, families must register in advance, as tickets are limited. Details: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-2019/faq/

Anytime: Museums for All

The museum attracts a larger attendance during free admission events, so the museum also offers a discount admission program – Museums for All. Families who present their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card qualify for a $2 admission per person (up to 6 people). The program may be used to visit the i.d.e.a. Museum during times convenient for their families.

Activities for all

Visitors may enjoy the Roadside USA exhibition through Sept. 8. It features art and activities highlighting people and places from coast to coast. The exhibition gallery will close Sept. 9-26 in preparation for Weather or Not: Art with Atmosphere, opening Sept. 27.

The HUB Gallery and ArtVille remain open and provide many engaging interactives, such as:

  • Building a new invention in Rigamajig
  • Testing your recycling knowledge playing the Recycle Fun touch-screen game
  • Creating a symphony of lights and sounds with In Harmony (formerly Soundscape)
  • Playing with soft blocks and imagination in ArtVille, a space designed for children ages 0-4 and their caregivers. Socks are required for everyone entering ArtVille.

Regular admission is $9 per guest age one and older. Museum members are free. Learn more about museum activities online: www.ideaMuseum.org.
