Message from Sunnee O’Rork, executive director of the i.d.e.a. Museum:

We appreciate your thoughtful notes and your questions about what’s happening at the i.d.e.a. Museum while we’re temporarily closed, due to the number of cases of Covid-19 in Arizona.

Well, what are we doing?

We’re making a variety of enhancements to the museum, including installing some touchless and low-touch activities that support early learning, nurture creative thinking and engage you as a family.

Also, based on a survey earlier this summer, we’re also putting in new protocols to increase cleaning, installing additional hand sanitizer stations and implementing timed ticketing and one-way routing through the museum.

We couldn’t make these investments in the museum without the incredible support from our members, donors, corporate sponsors, grant funders and the City of Mesa during this difficult time.

I encourage you to check out our website and social media because we have some wonderful activities for your family to do while you’re at home.

For our members, your membership continues to be extended during the duration of our closure. We thank you for your patience, and we hope you continue to enjoy our member exclusive content in your Monday emails. We had a recent email service change, so please check your junk files to ensure you aren’t missing out.

Please note that while the City of Mesa continues – out of an abundance of caution – to keep many facilities including the i.d.e.a. Museum temporarily closed to the public until further notice, it remains committed to bringing back programs as soon as possible based on guidance from the state and health agencies.

If you’d like to know anything else about what’s happening behind the scenes at the museum, please feel free to contact me at sunnee.o’rork@mesaaz.gov.

Stay safe and healthy.
